About tour

Love wine? Love fun? Love to discover new places? You are made for this tour, and this tour is made for you!
Even if you live in Melbourne and have visited Yarra valley wineries before, our special winery tour will be full of new discoveries and excitement for our guests! But if it’s your first time in Melbourne, this is a must do for all visitors!

Yarra Valley is famous as one of the most prominent wine regions of Australia producing a number of stunning wines but particularly suitable for lighter cool climate types of wine such as Chardonnay, Semillon and Pinot Noir. Still there are over 70 wineries now Yarra valley, all producing different varieties from Shiraz and Sangiovese to sparkling and even Ice Riesling. While most tours would normally take you to the most popular and well-known wine estates in the region (often trying to save on time and running distance between the locations), our Melbourne wine tour to Yarra Valley is completely different!

This is not a standard wineries tour from Melbourne, but a specially designed itinerary based on years of experience working with multitude of guests and wine lovers and exploring the local wineries to bring you the most exciting, unusual and even secret places and, of course, best wines that Yarra Valley has to offer. It’s not an easy task to pick the best wineries out of 70 plus locations, however we have filtered out a handful of them to showcase to our guests, and these ARE SPECIAL places! Check this tour’s itinerary:
1) We will leave Melbourne in the morning and head directly to Yarra Valley, which will take about an hour’s drive through Melbourne’s suburbs with view gradually changing from urban to rural. Prior to jumping into wines, we will make our first stop at a lovely Yarra Valley cafe for a cup of morning tea or coffee with some pieces of hand made lamington cake or banana bread (typical Aussie sweets of great quality handmade at the shop!) This is a vital stop to get you ready for a full day of wine tasting and great memories! And the best part is it’s all included for you!
2-3) Then we’ll head straight to the heart of Yarra Valley, to the place where wine making was born in Australia. Apart from learning the history of Yarra Valley and winemaking in Australia, you will visit the oldest winery in the valley (and this is not the Yering Station!) where local wine has been in production for over 150 years and will try some of their best wines available for tasting!
You will also travel to a few small boutique wineries owned by local winemakers where you will actually meet the owners or the winemakers, have a friendly chat with them and also taste their unique wine which you won’t find at any large liquor stores. As this will be a special private Yarra Valley tour we won’t visit large wine estates with big names like De Bortoli wines or Moet Chandon, where all bus tours go and bring flocks of tourists. Instead before each tour we will actually get in touch with our preferred small wineries to find out if they are open and have anything planned, and then we’ll take you to these special “secret” locations where you can enjoy the best locals wines and attention in a quite and relaxed atmosphere without the crowds.
We will visit 2 selected wineries to stop for some best wine tasting in Yarra Valley, talk to the owner or the winemaker, walk through the vineyards among the vines, taste the wine from the keg, taste some local cheeses and olives, and sometimes even see how the grapes are harvested and the wine is being made (depending on the season).
4) After the intensive wine tasting session at the best wineries in Yarra Valley, we will head to one of the best locations in this area – the local chocolaterie for a hearty lunch and dessert. You will enjoy local fetta cheese and olives here for the starter which you can complement with the wine you may have purchased earlier, and then choose your own hand made pizza for lunch, which will be baked on the hot stone oven for you. For dessert – Let your fantasy fly. This is one of the best chocolate factories in Melbourne, so let yourself be free and indulge in the tastiest dessert your mind can’t imagine. Alternatively you can also enjoy some ice-cream made in-house from the local dairy products and berries.
5) After the stunning lunch we will head to a beautiful blue lake surrounded by native eucalyptus forest to enjoy some pleasant views, easy walk through peaceful nature and a pretty waterfall. This is a surprisingly beautiful and little know “secret” spot that most people miss, but you will get an opportunity to relax your mind, listen to the birdsons and refresh your lungs.
6-7) Once you have refuelled and reenergised with some energy from the nature, we will head to 1 or 2 more special wineries in Yarra Valley for more premium wine tasting sessions. These will be other surprisingly quite and little known but special local boutique wineries of Yarra Valley that will give you another change to uncover local secrets such as Australian Ice Riesling and Sangiovese. After more time at these secret wineries we will head back towards Melbourne. BUT there’s more awaiting you in this fun-filled day!
8) On our way back from Yarra Valley we will stop enroute at one of our secret locations to spot some wild kangaroos (you’d be surprised to see so many wild animals so close the huge city!) You will enjoy the close view of wildlife in the nature without any barriers or cages. Get close to these beautiful Australian creatures, take some pictures (or we’ll take them on your behalf), have another glass of wine under the trees and enjoy the end of your memorable day. We won’t rush you!
Finally, after a fun filled full day private tour you will head back to Melbourne to be taken to your hotel or private home with heaps of stunning photos and unerasable memories of this fantastic day!

The tour will start at your hotel or another location in central Melbourne (we can pick you up at your cruise ship, train station, Tullamarine airport* or a private home). After the tour we will drop you off at your desired location in central Melbourne. This is an exclusively private tours, i.e. you will be travelling in a private tour vehicle only with the people in your own group and your private tour guide.
