About tour
We have all seen David Attenborough’s wildlife movies and National Geographics’ videos of unique places with unspooked wild animals and unspoiled nature. But more often than not these locations are so far and hard to reach that in reality most people never get to see them and end up dreaming about them without fruition.
Not with us!
Now you can get to such a place and actually admire unspooked wildlife (which is really wild), walk among the animals and observe their natural behaviour, walk the small less treaded paths through unspoiled nature and experience yourself these amazing spots which have featured many times in the National Geographic and David Attenborough’s films.
Picture yourself in the middle of a large grass field surrounded by native forest and high mountain walls on both sides, kangaroos hopping or grazing around, flocks of emus walking nearby, echidna digging the soil, kookaburras laughing loudly, black cockatoos flying solemnly above – and all of these surreal things are happenning around you. This is what we can offer you on this incredible private tour with us to Grampians National Park!
Hey, and this is just a small part, just one touch from the whole picture that you will experience on this Grampians mountain secrets tour. There is so much more to see and do in this amazing part of Australia: stunning waterfalls, crazy canyons, heaps of real wildlife, awe-inspiring lookouts (oh yeah, you will be freaking out!), terrific views from above the mountain, secret hidden spots with no crowds that will amaze you. This is all awaiting you on our private tour Grampians mountain.
Your day will start with an early pickup from your hotel or private address by our tour guide in a comfortable tour vehicle, you will leave Melbourne behind and head off to the west towards Grampians National park, which is almost 3 hours away. You will have a smooth and enjoyable ride with a short stop on the way for a morning tea or cup of coffee.
Our first main stop will be at our secret location to show you the spiritual place of the local aboriginal people. This is an unusual but beautiful location hidden by huge granite rocks believed by the aboriginies to be the eggs laid by the creator and guarded by the Bunjil who lives in a small cave. Here we will show you the aboriginal rock painting of the Bunjil spirit on one of the large rocks. After a short walk here we will drive into the mountaneous area of the Grampians National Park and start exploring the area by visiting several of our secret places with heaps of wild kangaroos and emus. We may need to go for a short walk through the forest to find the wildlife but this will be rewarded with incredible views of truly wild animals roaming around freely in the stunning natural location.
Our next stop will be at an interesting aboriginal cultural centre for a tasty lunch on an open air veranda. Here you will be able to experience the traditional bush foods of aboriginal people: a trio of kangaroo, emu and buffalo meats with local bush vegetables and spices, or choose an alternative and more traditional meal to qualm your hunger. This can be supplemented with an aromatic cup of tea or coffee after lunch. While waiting for your meal you will learn from our tour guide a little bit about local aboriginal tribes and their lifestyle and tools used. You can see and even try to play the authentic didgeridoo and locally made boomerangs.
Following lunch you will depart on an adventure with your tour guide to discover the surprising natural features of Grampians mountain. We’ll walk you through the stunning little Grand Canyon where river has carved its way from ancient volcanic rocks creating narrow pass with soaring walls and show you some secret spots where aboriginal people used to camp and collect water. We’ll walk on top of the basalt sheet and stand above the canyon on a rock for a thrilling view below you. Our tour guide will take your pictures which later you may not believe yourself that you could stand there.
We will then head to the beautiful waterfall in the mountains (Mackenzie falls) cascading down the rocks into a valley. We will walk down to the bottom of the waterfall to enjoy the views of the water flowing down into a large lagoon and do a short hike down the valley to check a few more great nature spots. You can even take a short swim in the river or sit on a rock away from the crowds and dip your feet into the flowing waters listening to the sounds of nature around you. We may even spot a few more wild emus or wallabies around.
Upon return from this walk we will drive to several more lookouts to show you the picturesque views of the mountains and gorgeous blue lakes beneath them. However our best secret spots will absolutely amaze you. We will take you to the “Devils Jaws” where two rock ledges protrude above each other over the canyon beneath. We will take some jaw dropping photos of you in this awesome spot, your friends will not believe your pictures!
And finally we will walk you to another of our secret spots for some beautiful views from the edge of the mountain top above the wild valley and “the whole world” below you. You can stand here for hours enjoying the views and the sun slowly climbing down, but we will have a short rest here with a refreshing glass of wine and some snacks to prepare you for a drive back to Melbourne. If time allows we can make a stop at a local winery for some relaxed wine tasting on our way back.
This private tour will stay in your memories for years to come. Our tour guide will be taking photos of you at different stunning locations so that you can enjoy these memories with your friends and family.
